What is a Shiloh Shepherd?
The Shiloh Shepherd is a rare breed developed in the 1970s by Tina Barber, who set out to recreate the German Shepherd Dog she remembered from her childhood in Germany. Through careful selection and breeding, she produced a dog of impressive strength and intelligence, yet one that remained gentle, calm, and well-suited to family life, capable of fulfilling the traditional role of a shepherd while thriving as a loving companion.
Shiloh Shepherds are typically larger than most German Shepherd dogs. At maturity, males typically measure between 28-32" at the shoulder, and females typically measure between 26-30". Their coats are either plush (long hair) or smooth (short hair), and come in a variety of colors ranging from solid white or black, to bi-colors and sables.
